Welcome to my creative world, where whimsy meets purpose. Explore playful and witty artwork alongside purposeful messages. Since 2009, I’ve authored and illustrated two beloved picture books: The Life of a Nut and A Nutty Adventure. Project: The Elephant in the Room
The Elephant in the Room theme was inspired by the apparent need to address a large range of mental health issues and concerns in our world today. This project is an invitation to ask questions, talk candidly and openly, and to pique our curiosity about the facts and myths surrounding mental illness. Maureen’s art expresses her perspective in terms of both whimsy and seriousness as one who has experienced the tumultuous aspects of mental disease. On the other hand, with creativity she has transformed a potential tragedy into a new, refreshing, positive view and attitude toward sound mental health.
